Job in Colony: Served as a fiscal agent for the Llano del Rio Company, but confided to George Pickett that he planned to steal from the colony and offered to let him in on the deal. Pickett informed the board and Harriman immediately took steps to re-organize the colony. Eggleston was thrown out and his high pressure method of stock sales was stopped.

Post-Colony History: In 1915 he made an effort to start his own co-operative community called the Nevada Colony Corporation.
