Museum the New Llano Colony

Orville Mastin

Birth:

Family Information:

Description:

Pre-Colony History: He came to the colony in early 1935 from Alabama. He had run a cotton gin prior to coming to the colony, where he had "acquired a business-like crispness and directness directly at variance with some of the vagueries in the thought process of a good many Llanoites."

Home in Colony:

Job in Colony: In March 1935 he became the Commercial Agent for the colony. Later that same week he was seen wearing a very worried look. When questioned about it, his response was that trying to make the school checks of two teachers do for three hundred people was making him prematurely gray. And with school terms ending in April, he wondered "what's what thereafter."
