Post-Colony History: She and her husband left the colony in 1937, soon after their marriage.

Aldena wrote a letter back to colonists describing their trip to their home in the Ozarks. In the letter she mentioned that they had spent the last night of their journey at Iowa Falls, Iowa, where she had been fired from Ellsworth College twelve years prior for "speaking against the war, campaigning for Bob LaFollette, refusing to rise for the war son, the Star Spangled Banner and like wickednesses."
